GREENE COUNTY, Ind – Wednesday afternoon members of the Indiana State Police Bloomington District were in eastern Greene County attempting to locate 36 year old Jesse D. Burton of Bloomfield. Troopers obtained information that Burton was wanted on active felony warrants through both Lawrence and Martin Counties, and was possibly living and working in the area near Eastern Greene Junior High School.
Troopers checked multiple locations in the area and just before 4pm, Troopers arrived at a residence in the 10000 block of State Road 54. As they pulled up to the residence, they saw Burton standing out in the yard.
Burton immediately took off running into the woods.
Troopers gave several commands for Burton to stop but he refused and entered the woods behind the residence.
Within moments, a perimeter was established and Trp. Klun and his K9 “Loki” arrived at the residence. Loki began to track Burton and led troopers about 100 yards into the woods, near an abandoned vehicle, where Burton was found hiding.
Burton surrendered without any further incident and was taken into custody.
Burton was arrested and incarcerated at the Greene County Jail. He was arrested on the following:
- Resisting Law Enforcement by Fleeing on Foot, Class A Misdemeanor
- Lawrence County warrants
- Habitual Traffic Violator for Life, Level 5 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement in Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement by Fleeing on Foot, Class A Misdemeanor
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Class B Misdemeanor
- Martin County warrant
- Violation of Probation
