GREENCASTLE, Ind – Indiana Conservation Officers were called to a fatal ATV accident Thursday evening around 7:30 near Greencastle.

Police say that 68-year-old Harvey Stringer, of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened on private property along County Road 600 South.

Stringer was found unresponsive, slumped over the handlebars of his off-road vehicle, which had crashed into a deep ditch.

Stringer is believed to have been driving the off-road vehicle in tall grass with poor visibility when the vehicle dropped into a deep ditch approximately 5 feet wide.

Stinger was not wearing a helmet or other protective equipment.

Foul play is not suspected, and an autopsy will not be performed.
