SMWC Names Former Sheriff As Director Of Security

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has named Greg Ewing as the director of campus security. Ewing began his new role on May 29 after a 28-year career with the Vigo County Sheriff’s office where he served as sheriff and deputy chief of operations.

Under his leadership at The Woods, Ewing will manage, plan and implement the College’s overall campus safety program, security operations and the ongoing management of the College’s Emergency Response Plan. He will be responsible for collaborating with local, state and federal law enforcement and emergency response agencies. Of primary importance to the position is strategic planning and an assessment process, which includes acquiring necessary resources to enhance the safety of faculty, staff, students and guests.

Ewing is a graduate of Indiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminology. He holds many certifications including State Law Enforcement Officer, Law Enforcement Training Instructor and various certifications from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
