VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – Changes  in Indiana election law could greatly slow down results.

News 10 is reporting that Vigo County Clerk Brad Newman said that two initials must now be on every ballot. One Republican and one Democrat which means that there will need to be two more people at each voting center.

Also, all absentee ballots cannot be counted until 6:00 a.m. on Election Day.

Newman was quoted as saying that unless there are another 60 or 70 people opening envelopes and being part of the process, election results could be delayed by a day or two.

He also said that these changes and the need for more people will mean a necessary increase in the election budget.

The municipal general election is set for November 5th and there will also likely be one or possibly two referendums.
