The following story has been updated to reflect a new press release from the Parke County Sheriff’s Office.
PARKE COUNTY, Ind – Just before 3:00 a.m. this morning Parke County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Goff Rd., just north of Fisher Rd. in rural Rockville on the report of a suspicious vehicle off the road.
Police say that while they were inspecting the unoccupied vehicle which was unoccupied and damaged from an accident, gunfire was immediately heard in their vicinity and possibly in their direction.
Police say that a male subject pointing a .223 rifle then appeared from the same area of the gunshots and began approaching officers while pointing the weapon at them.
After a short standoff, officers were able to arrest and take the suspect into custody.
43-year-old Charles Lindquist of rural Rockville was charged with Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon Directed at a Law Enforcement Officer, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and operating a Vehicle White Intoxicated Refusal.
He is currently being house in the Parke County Jail without a bond. Rockville Police assisted.
