Police Say Man Was Drunk When He Used Doggie Door To Steal Truck

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind – On Thursday (7/4/19) around 2:00 p.m. Sullivan County Sheriff’s dispatch received a report that a pickup truck had been stolen from a locked garage, on Division Road in Farmersburg, IN.

While deputies were investigating the burglary, Sheriff’s dispatch received a call of a vehicle matching the description of the stolen truck, driving through a yard on County Road 200 E.

Deputies went to that address and found a similar truck parked in the weeds, behind a row of trees.

In the truck, police found 55 year old Garland Tuttle JR. of Farmersburg, IN.

While speaking with Tuttle police say that he was unsteady on his feet, and appeared to be intoxicated.

After being read his rights, Tuttle admitted that he had taken the vehicle, and that had gained access into the garage by crawling through a doggie door.

Tuttle was arrested and tests revealed that his blood alcohol content was .291%.

Tuttle was charged with Burglary, Auto Theft and Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated.

Tuttle remains in the Sullivan County Jail under $20,000. bond, with 10 percent allowed.
