CAYUGA, Ind – Saturday night (7/6/19) around 9:45 PM, Cayuga Deputy Town Marshall Keith Warner noticed a vehicle driving recklessly into local gas station. As the vehicle entered the parking lot, the driver threw a large plastic cup from the vehicle.
The Marshal stopped the vehicle.
The backseat passenger, 35-year-old April Brian, of Terre Haute, jumped out and ran into the gas station.
As Marshal Warner approached the vehicle, the driver, 32-year-old Heather L. Brian of Terre Haute, was screaming that the front seat passenger had stopped breathing.
Marshal Warner pulled 29 year old Benjamin Eason of Terre Haute and formerly of Clinton, out of the car and began CPR.
Vermillion County Deputy Troy Vaughn arrived on scene and administered two rounds of nasal Narcan while Marshal Warner continued CPR and applied the AED.
Ambulance EMS personnel administered an IV dose of Narcan and then transported Eason to Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Police found several syringes, spoons, and a small quantity of Heroin inside the vehicle. It was also discovered that the three had purchased the Heroin in Danville, Illinois.
Heather Brian was arrested on charges of OVWI–Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful possession of a Syringe.
April Brian was arrested on charges of Possession of a controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Syringe.
Benjamin Eason, after being medically cleared, was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Syringe.
