TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Terre Haute Humane Society is dealing with a problem of illegal dumping of animals.

Recently six cats were left at the shelter and officials say that this is potentially dangerous to the animals when left in crates without food or water.

Animal dumping could also result in a fine.

Even though there many terrible ways that animal owners can get rid of unwanted pets, the Terre Haute Humane Society has resources in place to assist pet owners in need.

Low-cost spay and neutering is available by appointment at the shelter.

A food pantry is also open to pet owners in need.
