TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – A sentencing hearing was held Monday in Vigo County Court for 39-year-old Tabetha Smith.

Police said Smith took her three-month-old son to the hospital for breathing problems in April of 2018 and that Smith didn’t replace his feeding tube. That led to the child’s death due to dehydration.

Judge Sarah Mullican heard testimony in the case.

The hearing will resume on August 19 in order to review records.

As part of a plea agreement three of the four charges against Smith have been dismissed.
