VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Friday evening (8/8/19) around 6:00 p.m., Indiana State Trooper Andrew Mattern saw a vehicle on 1st Avenue near 19th Street that ran a stop sign and failed to signal a turn.
The Trooper tied to stop the car but it continued on for another mile before coming to an abrupt stop and the male driver jumped out and ran.
The Trooper chased the suspect on foot until he turned a corner near a residence and ran into a large wooden fence that he couldn’t get over.
42 year old Jeremy Phillippi of Terre Haute surrendered to police.
Officers say that Phillippi was intoxicated and refused to submit to a certified chemical test.
Phillippi’s girlfriend and her one-year-old son were also in the vehicle.
Phillippi was taken to the Vigo County Jail where he is being held without bond.

Driving While Intoxicated with a Passenger less than 18 years of age, Class 6 Felony
Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Prior), Class 6 Felony
Driving While Intoxicated, Class A Misdemeanor
Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
Driving While Suspended, Class A Misdemeanor
