TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Mental Health of America of West-Central Indiana is trying to help reduce City and County mental health and homeless problems.
There are estimates that there could be as many as 700 that are homeless in Terre Haute.
Thursday night the Terre Haute City Council voted unanimously to rezone the property where the tiny homes will be put.
Close to a dozen tiny homes, or single-occupant structures of about 350-square feet, are being planned for development near the corner of 14th and Chase streets.
They hope to start putting them up by this coming spring.

A second rezoning was discussed Thursday, but no action was taken.
The council was asked to rezone property along Harding Avenue, or the former site of Texas Roadhouse near Margaret Avenue and Third Street, for prospective development of a hotel, restaurant or bar.
Some council members said that there was not enough information on exactly what was being planned.
The legal representative was told to come back next month with more information what was being planned.
Terre Haute City Council meets again at 5:30 p.m. September 12th.
