TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – A press conference was held Thursday to talk about what the City of Terre Haute and Indiana State University have planned for this year’s homecoming events.

Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett said that the city wants everyone to have a good time and to help every Terre Haute police officer will be working during homecoming.

There will also be and ambulance and other fire fighters to help respond to any needs along Wabash Avenue between the parade and Memorial Stadium.

Last year there were problems with fights and other disturbances.

ISU President Dr. Deborah Curtis said that Tent City will be a third of the size it was last year and inside the stadium.

The space that used to be used for Tent City will be used for parking this year.

Tailgating will also be different. It will close at kick-off and stay closed during the entire homecoming game. This will be different for other football games.

Dr. Curtis said that the school wants to make sure that homecoming is family-friendly, student-friendly, and community-friendly.
