VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department continues to search for an inmate that was accidentally released from the county jail back in September.
A paperwork mix-up resulted in Gregg Shepherd being released.
Changes have been made to keep that from happening again.
Shepherd faces charges of criminal confinement, battery, and theft that stem from a domestic situation.
Police do not believe he is a danger to the public and they do not believe that he is in the area.
When he is captured, he will not face additional charges because his release was technically legal. Those that may help to hide him could face charges of assisting a criminal.
