JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A new trial date has been set in the southern Indiana cannibalism case.
The Clark County prosecutor says the new trial for Joseph Oberhansley is set for February 2nd. The jury will be chosen from St. Joseph County in northern Indiana.
The first trial in August ended in a mistrial when a witness testified about Oberhansley’s drug use and criminal record.
Oberhansley is accused of killing Tammy Jo Blanton at her home in Jeffersonville five years ago and then eating parts of her body.
The prosecutor says he’s confident they will be able to try the case and says he will not offer Oberhansley a plea deal.
