TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The rumors have been confirmed.
The Terre Haute Police Department will, indeed, be featured on the A&E hit show “Live PD.”
The Terre Haute Board of Public Works approved a contract between the show and the city on Thursday. The contract is for one year, and goes into effect immediately, although it’s not known yet when filming will begin. It can be renewed, and it is up to them when they will start filming.
Three to five Terre Haute police officers will volunteer to have their 3 P.M. to 11 P.M. shift recorded. The show will air on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 P.M. to Midnight.
Chief Shawn Keen highlighted some areas that were considered during the decision to move ahead with this agreement.
Helping to recruit more police officers to Terre Haute. Other police departments involved with this show and they said they saw an increased number of qualified applicants.
Giving the public an inside look at what they do and how they do it.
The next question is if Terre Haute will join the Lawrence Police Department as a second department from Indiana to be featured on the show, or if the show will replace Lawrence with Terre Haute. The Lawrence Police Department has been on “Live PD” since September 2018.
“Live PD” airs Friday and Saturday nights, with camera crews following various police departments around the country, live as action happens.
Officials say the company offers some money to the city depending on the amount of air-time, however, there is no cost to taxpayers.
