TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A potential new location and structure for a new Terre Haute City Police Headquarters.
Wednesday afternoon Mayor Duke Bennett confirmed in a phone interview that the city administration is considering the former Tribune-Star office building downtown as a potential new home of the police department.
The mayor said that he and other city officials have toured the building and building experts are considering how the plans and needs of the police department might fit in that structure at 7th and Walnut.
Mayor Bennett said that there is a potential for a considerable cost savings if this site works out.
The current police department headquarters is in need of many upgrades and safety improvements.
