TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A pre-trial hearing date was set for a Terre Haute Firefighter in court Thursday.
46-year-old Rodger Plunkett is currently on unpaid suspension.
He faces five charges of child molestation for allegedly having performed sex acts with two minor children when they were age 7 and younger. They are now adults and only recently reported the abuse.
If Plunkett is not convicted of the charges, the merit commission said Plunkett will be reinstated as a member of the department.
If he is convicted, the fire department will again have to ask the commission to terminate Plunkett’s employment.
A pre-trial date was set for February 13th with a jury trial set for Feb. 24.
Plunkett is currently out of jail after having posted a $100,000 bond.
