VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The new Vigo County Jail will cost a little less than expected.

The Vigo County Council announced Tuesday night that construction bonds have been issued and that interest rates were lower than expected.

Which means lower than expected annual debt service costs.

The cost savings is expected to be used to help develop and fund drug and substance abuse programs aimed at prevention and more rehabilitation. Those programs will hopefully keep the number of inmates in the jail down.
