MUNCIE, Ind. — He was chased into the high school by a ghost, that’s what a Muncie man told police when he was caught burglarizing Wes-Del High School.

Daniel Humbert has been charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief, said the Muncie Star Press.

Delaware County sheriff’s deputies said a custodian found Humbert inside the building on April 8.

Humbert then raised his hands and said, “Don’t mean you any harm. I was being chased by a ghost.”

Humbert was gone when police arrived, and he had gotten into the school by breaking a window with a rock. A vending machine in the school was also broken into.

He admitted to breaking into the school when police found him at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Humbert had the flu, and was taken to jail last Thursday.
