WASHINGTON — Vice-President Mike Pence will be at the White House this week even though his press secretary Katie Miller has tested positive for coronavirus. It was initially said the vice president would be keeping his distance from the White House, working remotely for the next few days. However, Pence did keep a low profile over the weekend out of an abundance of caution.

“There is a member of the vice president’s team that is positive for coronavirus,” said White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Friday. “We have put in place the guidelines that our experts have put forward to keep this building safe.”

So far the vice president, who says he’s tested daily, has not tested positive for coronavirus. His office said there are no deviations or restrictions on his schedule this week.

Though Pence is choosing not to self-isolate, other members of the White House coronavirus task force which he leads are in quarantine after exposure to staffers who tested positive for COVID-19.

“Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes,” said Katie Miller on Twitter. “I’m doing well and look forward to getting back to work for the American people.”

Miller is one of just two people who work within the White House to test positive for coronavirus since the pandemic reached the United States.
