Fire Kills 2,000 Pigs In Vermillion County

VERMILLION COUNTY, IN — A passerby reported a fire along US 36 near Dana, Indiana that took out half of a swine barn at the Redman Pig Farm around 3 AM.

Just before 3 AM on Thursday, Helt Township Fire Chief Scott Peebles said that a barn at the Redman Pig Farm near Dana, Indiana along US 36 caught fire and destroyed half of the structure. No staff were present at the time, which allowed the flames to engulf around 2,000 pigs. The State Fire Marshall has begun their investigation, looking for a cause.
