Terre Haute, In. – The Terre Haute Board of Public Works and Safety has voted to rejoin a state litigation settlement spurred from the opioid epidemic that will bring the city about $2.5 million over the next 18 years. The move this week, comes after action last year, in which Terre Haute joined other Indiana municipalities in opting out of the state’s portion of a national settlement with distributors and makers of opioids, such as Oxycontin. It means the city will receive about $2.5 million total, but distributions will be made over a period of 11 to 18 years between two different settlements. Terre Haute will not get a lump sum.
