Terre Haute, In. – Tuesday afternoon Terre Haute Police Officers responded to the Meadows Shopping Center area regarding shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers and investigators learned that a male entered Darrell’s Diamonds Jewelry Store at the Meadows and stole some merchandise. The suspect then fled the store, met up with another man and began to run from the Meadows. The store owner, 72-year-old-Darrell Bemis gave chase and fired multiple shots from a handgun . Bemis was taken into custody for Criminal Recklessness and transported to the Vigo County Jail. The two suspects who fled are believed to be adults and have not been located at this time.
