TERRE HAUTE-Ammonia was accidentally discharged into the city’s sewer system this week, according to Mayor Duke Bennett’s office.

The discharge damaged the treatment process on Wednesday.

The Indiana Dept  of Environmental Management was contacted immediately.

Damage was temporary and permanent environmental damage is anticipated.
