VIGO COUNTY – On Wednesday at approximately 11:10 a.m., Master Trooper Ted Robertson observed a black Infiniti SUV traveling southbound on State Road 63 near Sandford Road traveling above the posted speed limit.  Trooper Robertson activated his radar and received a reading of 87 mph in a 60-mph zone.  Trooper Robertson, in his fully marked police car, caught up with the SUV and activated all of his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the SUV accelerated, and a pursuit ensued.

The SUV continued southbound on State Road 63 reaching speeds above 100 mph, traveling into the city of Terre Haute.  For public concerns, it was at this time that the Indiana State Police terminated the pursuit.  A short time later the West Terre Haute Police Department and the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department observed the SUV and pursued the vehicle.  They traveled southbound on 1st Street, turning east onto Margaret Avenue, returning to US 41 traveling south. The SUV attempted to drive up the westbound entrance ramp of Interstate 70, but the driver lost control and crashed into a ravine on the north side of the ramp.  The driver then exited the vehicle, ran north, and jumped a fence. A short time later, the driver was located hiding in a trash dumpster and was taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Lamont E. Green, age 26, of Spring Hill, Tennessee.  Green was taken into custody and was transported to the Vigo County Jail where he is currently being detained.
