Are your children ready for school in the fall?

The Clay County Health Department is sponsoring a shot clinic this month that will provide all the immunizations required for children kindergarten through high school.

The clinic will be Saturday, April 22, 10 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, April 25, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Clay County Health Department, 18 N. Walnut St. in Brazil.

“We ask that you call for an appointment because we don’t know what kind of response we’ll get,” said Amy Shelton. “I know that kindergarten roundup is happening in multiple places.”

The number to call is (812) 448-9021.

The clinic is completely free.

“We’re trying to provide a service for the community so all the kids have the shots they need before they go to school,” Shelton said.

She said if the children don’t have all their shots they might lose time from school or have to take classes online until they can get their shots.

“It makes it easier so next fall they’re not rushing around in late July or early August trying to get in to get their shots done,” Shelton said. “Our goal is to make sure all the kids have all the shots they need, not just to go to school but for disease prevention, so we don’t have kids coming down with diseases that are preventable.”
