GREENCASTLE– A woman who lived in Van Bibber Lake Estates perished when fire destroyed her home and a garage.

Carol Haney, 69, died of carbon monoxide poisoning, a coroner said.

High heat prevented crews from rescuing Haney, firefighters said.

The fire started about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
