BRAZIL-The 2022 Clay County Fair Queen Kara Rendant and Princess Addy Murphy are gearing up for the 2023 pageants to be held Saturday, July 8. At this pageant, Queen Kara will pass on the title to the 59th Queen. Princess Addy will pass the title to the 37th Princess.
Reigning Queen Kara Rendant is the 2019 graduate of Clay City High School and the 2022 graduate of Indiana School of Grooming. She represented Clay County very well at the 2023 Indiana State Fair Queen Program this past January. Her experience and wisdom gained through this past year is helping to strengthen her leadership and professional skills.
Reigning Princess Addy Murphy is a Northview High School student. She is a member of Clay County Junior Leaders, choir, many clubs, volleyball and track teams.
Her experience gained from the role as princess has given her the confidence to grow into a young lady who will conquer her goals. This past year has been one of making many memories in which she has gained valuable insight of herself and the wide variety of Clay County agriculture.
The queen pageant began in 1958 while the princess pageant began in 1987 and has supported many young ladies of Clay County to grow into community leaders.
This program is open to those who live in Clay County or a neighboring township and whose majority of activities are inside Clay County. Such activities include but are not limited to 4-H, Girl Scouts, school enrollment, Big Brother/Big Sister, etc. Contestants must meet the eligibility requirements found online.
The fair pageants have five divisions; Little Miss and Mister (boys and girls in separate categories in this age division) – ages 4 (on or before July 1, 2023) through second grade, Duchess – third through sixth grades, Princess – seventh through tenth grades, and Queen – grade eleven through age twenty (cannot turn 21 on or before June 1, 2023). Grade levels are those which are completed in the 2023-2023 school year.
All registrations and entry fees of $30 are due in full by 4:00 on Friday, May 26, 2023.
