BRAZIL – Good news for kids in the Clay Community Schools.

Starting this coming school year, you may have up to three absolutely free snow days — days that are free from going to school, free from using Chromebooks for school work and free from make up days.

Superintendent Tim Rayle made the announcement during his first school board meeting as superintendent on Thursday night.

The state has granted Clay Community Schools five fewer days than in the past. Now, the school corporation will have to be in session for 175 days instead of 180.

In addition to the three possible snow days, teachers will also get two professional days — one in August and one in February, Rayle said.

To learn more about the snow days, you can watch his new podcast on the Clay Community Schools web page, he said.

  2. Increase trust and confidence.
  3. Implementation of new ideas.
  4. Supportive, positive district climate and culture.

He also shared his “non-negotiables”:

-Students will be at the center of every decision.

-A safe, non-threatening, learning environment will be exercised.

-High personal standards and expectations will be fostered in order for students and staff to excel. —High-quality employees will lead Clay Community Schools students in discovering success.

-Continuous improvement will drive our teaching and learning.

-Open and transparent communication will be utilized to maintain trust.

-Fiscal responsibility will be fundamental in achieving our vision.
