Drunk motorcyclist injured in crash

TERRE HAUTE – On Sunday at 8:23 pm officers responded to a motorcycle vs. truck accident at 3rd and Maple Ave.

Witnesses told officers that the motorcycle had been driving at a high rate of speed and dangerously swerving in and out of traffic while heading North on 3rd St. When the light turned green at 3rd and Maple Ave the motorcycle revved its engine and attempted a burn out. The motorcycle lost control and swerved into the truck causing the truck to strike the driver of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital and then to an out of area hospital for treatment of serious, but not life threatening injuries.

The FACT Team (Accident Reconstruction) responded to the scene. The driver of the motorcycle was cited for Operating While Intoxicated. At this point, the names of the drivers will not be released to allow the family of the injured driver to be notified of their condition.
