Terre Haute, In. – Tuesday morning Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun gave his first city update since becoming mayor. Hosted by the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce at the Convention Center, Sakbun laid out his vision for the city for the coming year covering topics ranging from public safety to economic development. One of the things the mayor wants to initiate is funding for a second social worker to join the Terre Haute Police Department’s current social worker, Jarom Hawker, who works with the homeless and those suffering from mental health and addiction issues. Sakbun said his administration is working hard to bring down abandoned and dilapidated homes and businesses in the city to make way for new development.
