Terre Haute, In. – Tuesday afternoon Mayor Brandon Sakbun swore in 16 new firefighters to the Terre Haute Fire Dept.  This group is one of the largest recruit classes in the history of the department.  Fire Chief Derrick Scott and mayor Sakbun’s goal has been to bring the manpower level up to the 153 firefighters budgeted for. This class of 16 brings the level up to 146. There will be another recruit class next year.The new recruits are Shane Weber, Cody Stevens, Matthew Peperak, Jacob Newton, Kayla Knowlton, Andrew Justin, Samuel Isaacs, Matthew Hinkel, Logan Harris, Jonathan Goodwin, Stephen Gibson, Robert Crippin, Justin Cottrell, Andric Branham, Nicolas Booe and Charles Albright.
