Wabash Valley – Indiana America Water company has begun their annual maintenance of their system in the Wabash Valley.  August 5th through October 4th the company will be flushing fire hydrants, and the water quality team will be switching to a new form of chlorine called “free chlorine”, a stronger disinfectant used in flushing water mains and fire hydrants.  During this period customers may notice reduced pressure, discolored water and a stronger smell and taste of Chlorine in the water.  According to company officials that is no cause for concern. I you experience discolored water the company suggests you run cold water in the lowest level of your home for 3 to 5 minutes. They also suggest to not do laundry until the water clears up.
