One Wounded And One Dead In Standoff In Merom

Merom, Indiana – The Indiana State Police reports that a woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds in a domestic situation. The alleged shooter is 53-year-old Tony G. Maree of Merom.  When police arrived, Maree had barricaded himself in a home.  The Sullivan Sheriff’s Department requested help from the Terre Haute Emergency Response Team. After several verbal and tactical attempts to get Maree to come out officers entered the home and found Maree dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The female shooting victim was transported to the hospital then air lifted to a hospital in Indianapolis.
