Terre Haute, In. – If you’ve driven westbound in Wabash at 9th ½ street lately you’ve probably noticed that the Coca Cola Mural on the side of the History Center building id being repainted. The original mural was destroyed when emergency repairs had to be made to the wall. The mortar holding the bricks in the wall together was deteriorating and allowing water to damage the building interior. The overall project, now estimated to cost $400,000, involved water blasting to remove the peeling paint and then a masonry crew cut out all masonry joints and tuckpointed with new mortar. The repair of the wall is finished now Ace Sign and Awning are repainting the mural which is is 45 feet tall and 150 feet wide. They hope to have the mural done this year depending on the weather it may not be finished till spring.
