Vigo County, In. – Republican Travis Norris was elected Vigo County Coroner in November 5th election. Norris is member of the Vigo County Council. According to Indiana law a person cannot hold two elected offices at the same time. A Party caucus must be held to fill Norris’ Council seat. Republican party chairman Randy Gentry told the Tribune-Star that he intends to seek the open council seat in the caucus. Caucus meetings are closed to the public and are held at the pleasure of the party. If Gentry runs, he will not be able to preside over the caucus. He said, “I can designate someone as a caucus chair and secretary of the caucus. The process is quite simple and straight forward, consisting of a roll call, quorum determination, procedural rules adoption mandated by party rules, and a secret ballot vote.”
