Terre Haute man arrested for child pornography in Rockville

ROCKVILLE – A Terre Haute man was arrested on Child Solicitation and Child Pornography charges on Saturday.

The Rockville Police Department was notified of suspicious behavior at the Beechwood Park by members of a private organization calling themselves Predator Hunters of Indiana (PHI).

The PHI members said they had created a fake social media account posing as a 12-year-old girl.

Two PHI members met an off-duty Rockville police officer and deputies of the Parke County Sheriff’s Office at the park .

The PHI members gave officers electronic files detailing the online conversation between the man and the PHI social media account.

When the suspect, Harry Pumphrey of Terre Haute, showed up he admitted to officers that he was there to meet what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl he met online and that he possessed child pornography.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers found child pornography on his phone gifts in his possession he planned on giving the 12-year-old girl.

The Rockville Police Department was assisted in the investigation by deputies from the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and the Parke County Prosecutor’s Office.
