Deputy, suspect shot near Dana

DANA – A deputy was shot in the leg and the suspect was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with gunshot wounds after a chase that began in Danville, Illinois, shortly before 7 p.m., Friday.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames said Danville, Illinois, police stopped a car for a traffic violation and learned he was wanted for attempted murder.

The driver took off and led deputies on a chase that ended at CR 1400 West and 700 South near Dana, Indiana.

When the driver stopped, he stepped out of the vehicle and shot at the deputy, striking him in the leg.
