TERRE HAUTE – Several members of the Vigo County School Corp. diversity task force were dismissed because they asked to read the report that detailed results of an investigation into racial harassment at West Vigo High School, the dismissed task members told the Tribune Star.

The dismissals s took place Friday,

The dismissed members had sent a letter from the group to the school corporation requesting the information. A member of the group said it was their understanding some information in the report might have to be redacted.

An attorney representing most of the task force members wrote a letter to the school corporation stating “receipt of the entire report is a condition precedent to proceeding with the work of the team.”

The team members received a report summary that the team members felt was unsatisfactory.

Amy Lore, school board president responded, “We appreciate the commitment and careful consideration demonstrated by members …”

The dismissed team members plan to meet next week and have more to say on the matter.
