WESTFIELD — A term limits ordinance voted on by the Westfield City Council has been overturned by the Indiana General Assembly and Gov. Eric Holcomb.
The ordinance passed 5-2 in December stated the council members would not be eligible to run for more than two terms and the clerk treasurer would not be able to run for more than three terms.
The mayor vetoed the ordinance but the city council voted to overturn his veto. Mayor Andy Cook said he vetoed the ordinance because he doubted it would stand up if challenged in court.
