TERRE HAUTE — An altercation among multiple inmates at the U. S. Penitentiary at Terre Haute resulted in the death of one person.

Carlos Shelton, 43, died in a local hospital following the fight that began about 4:50 p.m. Friday. stated a news release.

A second inmate was treated for minor injuries.
