Traffic stop leads to drugs

BRAZIL – During the late evening hours of May 22, Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies were on patrol in eastern Clay County, Cass Township, near Poland, Indiana. A deputy observed a sport utility vehicle traveling suspiciously in the area. The deputy observed traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for those infraction violations. The vehicle came to a stop near the Clay and Owen County boundary line along State Road 42.

During the course of the traffic stop and investigation, a Clay County Sheriff’s Office K9 was utilized and provided alerts on the exterior of the sport utility vehicle. A subsequent search of the sport utility vehicle was conducted. Suspected marijuana and methamphetamine were located inside that vehicle. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail, where they were remanded to jail staff without incident. Those arrested:

  • Shannon Farrell, 47 of Poland, was preliminarily charged with:
  • Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 5 Felony;
    Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor; and Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor.
  • Tuesday Hennis, 34 of Poland, was preliminarily charged with:
  • Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 5 Felony;
    Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor; and Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are being considered.
