The city of Brazil has received $1.8 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. That is money given to communities to aid recovery from the Covid pandemic.

Plans are not yet complete but city attorney Traci Orman told the city council that preliminary plans include spending the money to pay off the new salt and sand building, employee bonuses, buying new vehicles for the police and street departments, new cement for the Forest Park pool and other maintenance items.

The ARPA funds must be spent by the end of 2026.
