West Vigo’s middle school experienced an isolated fire in one of its classrooms on Tuesday evening. The fire was discovered by a custodian, who called it in at around 8:30 PM. First responders were able to extinguish the fire quickly, however, there was significant damage to the classroom as well as some minor damage to the surrounding classes.
Due to the damage, along with the danger of possible fumes from the fire, the schools have been on an E-learning day for the past two days. The middle school and West Vigo’s Vikes and Tykes have been E-learning. The students will be allowed back into the school once crews can ensure safe air quality.
