Special Olympic Law Enforcement Torch Run Is Friday

Indianapolis and Terre Haute, In. – Law Enforcement Officers from all over the state will participate in the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run Friday carrying the Flame of Hope signifying the start of the 2024 Special Olympics.  The 3-mile Terre Haute run begins at noon at Indiana State University Parking Lot 21 and takes participants throughout campus.  The Indianapolis event begins with a ceremony at 9 a.m. at Victory Field followed by a 3-mile run that highlights the Indiana Cultural Trail, Monument Circle, Indiana Statehouse and White River State Park. Law enforcement officers run alongside Special Olympics Indiana athletes in order during the events. The torches are then used to ignite the Cauldon during the 2024 Summer Games Opening Ceremony on Thursday, June 7, at Indiana State University. Community leaders, residents and businesses along the courses are invited to come out to cheer and support the participants.
