Former Clay Co. Instructional Assistant Charged With Battery On A Child

Clay County, In. – Amanda Haviland, a former instructional assistant in Clay County, is charges with battery against a child while she was employed by Clay Community Schools at the Clay City Elementary School.  A judge issued a warrant for Haviland last Friday. According to court documents a school police officer reviewed security video and observed Haviland grab a student and stick out her leg.  The student fell hitting their hand against the wall causing a cut.  Haviland says it was an accident.  She is being charged with battery on a child, resulting in bodily injury. Haviland is no longer employed by Clay Community Schools.
