Terre Haute Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

Terre Haute, In. – Early on November 26th the Terre Haute Police Department responded to a report of battery in the 3300 block of South US 41.  When they arrived they found two people that had sustained injuries.  After investigating they learned that that the female victim, was being stalked and threatened by an ex-boyfriend who was identified as 46-year-old Marc A. Yates of Terre Haute. She had a protective order against Yates and had been avoiding him. That evening she had a male friend walk her to her car when Yates attacked them with a club-style weapon as they approached her vehicle. The male victim sustained life-threatening injuries, including a skull fracture, while the female victim suffered extensive injuries, including a fractured ankle. THPD Violent Crimes Detectives took over the investigation with assistance from the THPD U.S. Marshal Task Force Officer. Yates was located at a residence on 4th Avenue on December 2.  When he refused to come out a THPD K9 team, entered the residence.  He surrendered and was placed under arrest for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery.
