Terre Haute, In. – In a social media post the Terre Haute Police Department released an update on a case of child abuse they’ve been investigating since last November. A concerned citizen reported suspected child abuse to the police department and DCS through a tip line and the prosecutor’s office began an investigation. After interviewing adults and children and execution of search warrants, they determined that an 11-year-old been subjected to prolonged physical and mental abuse by their caregivers. On Tuesday, January 28th 35-year-old Melinda Hoke and 36-year-old Jonathon Marion were arrested and charged with Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Injury. The police department says the results of this investigation is a prime example of the critical role our community plays in safeguarding our children. Without the courage of those who spoke up, this child along with the four others removed from this household might still be in a dangerous situation.
