TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A candidate for Terre Haute city clerk won’t be on the May 7th Primary ballot.
The Vigo County Election Board voted unanimously Friday to remove Alan R. Dugger Jr.
Kelly Duggins is the Chief Deputy Clerk for the city of Terre Haute. She told the board she “received reliable information, on good authority, that the potential candidate had not voted in the city election and just registered to vote in December, 2018.
She also stated that Dugger Jr. had not declared party affiliation on his candidacy form and had not received approval from any political party chair to be considered a Democrat or a Republican.
The board’s action leaves Michelle Edwards as the only Democrat, and only candidate as no Republican has filed.
The Election Board action was taken after receiving guidance from the Indiana Election Division.
