TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – A Terre Haute man was sentenced in court Monday (8/26/19) on charges of aggravated battery with serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent.

34-year-old Scott Edwards pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 years on each count for 28 years total.

According to court records, Edwards was taking care of his girlfriend’s 14-month-old son, Cameron.

The child suffered a split-tongue likely caused by scissors, along with several other bruises and injuries.

Edwards will appeal the sentence.
